The incoming OnePlus 2 is confirmed to come with a USB Type-C port, instead of a micro USB one.
It could be said without a speck of doubt that OnePlus 2 is one of the most anticipated smartphone releases of 2015. OnePlus One was a huge hit among the Android enthusiasts and now in order to keep their fans excited about the incoming addition to their “flagship killer” series, the Chinese company has been spilling the beans on what is to be expected from the device.
The latest spill comes out of their official forum wherein a OnePlus’ staff member that goes by the name David S posted a bunch of pictures of the Type-C cable that will come on board with the OnePlus 2. The cable looks pretty neat featuring a mix of red and white colors that go in line with the logo of the smartphone brand.
If all goes well, OnePlus 2 will be the first flagship smartphone to feature a USB Type-C port, as opposed to the micro USB port that we’ve grown accustomed to since forever. In case you didn’t know, some highlights of USB-C include double side plugging, faster charging, quicker data transfer rates (up to 10Gbps), and more.
As a recap on the specs, the OnePlus 2 handset is expected to feature a 5.5-inch screen with a display resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Besides that, it’s already been confirmed by the company that the device will be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The company also revealed that the devices will feature an under-clocked CPU in order to avoid the notorious heating issues of the said processor.
Other rumored features include a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing snapper, front-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3,300mAh battery to take care of the power needs. The device will likely be available in two storage variants: 16GB storage with 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage with 4 gigs of RAM. It will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The company also shared that they’ll be revealing more information about the specs of the device on their Google+ page on June 25. We’re expecting to hear more details about the camera department of the device this time around — in any case, we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear about them.
